About Us

ABOUT RAINBOW ROOM ROCKWALL

As First Lady of Texas, Laura Bush promoted the Rainbow Room concept, and thanks to her leadership, there is now a Rainbow Room in every Texas county. The Rainbow Room of Rockwall County was established in 1999.

Our mission is to ensure all Rockwall County children who have been abused or neglected, and require the intervention or engagement of Child Protective Services, are supported, by providing for their immediate, on-going, and essential physical and emotional needs.

We are a working board of volunteers. We have no paid staff, no building expense, and very little operating expense, so that 98% of every dollar donated to us goes directly to the children.

Gunnar Ledermann
Gunnar Ledermann
Board Member

A passionate resident of Rockwall, Gunnar is deeply invested in the community he calls home. He appreciates the charm of Downtown, the Harbor, local parks, and the vibrant food scene—but it’s the people who truly make Rockwall special. His involvement with local nonprofits such as Helping Hands, Meals on Wheels Senior Services, Rainbow Room, and the Kiwanis Club has allowed him to build meaningful connections with both dedicated volunteers and those in need. He also enjoys collaborating with the Rockwall Chamber of Commerce, the City of Rockwall, and the Downtown Rockwall Association to help preserve the city’s small-town, family-friendly atmosphere.

Gunnar earned his Bachelor of Arts in Classical Languages (Greek and Hebrew) with an emphasis in Spanish from Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota. He continued his theological education at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, Wisconsin, completing an eight-year training program to become a pastor. During his third year, he interned at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Leesburg, Florida. In May 2016, he graduated with a Master of Divinity degree and was assigned to Divine Peace Church in Rockwall. He and his wife, Marinda, are raising their three children with a deep appreciation for the Texas spirit and sunshine.
